I have some tins containing 3 ounces net weight of the 1/3 Mix Military Gunstock Wax recipe - either White Beeswax or Natural Beeswax, BLO, and Turpentine. This tin should be enough to last the average multi-gun collector well over a year or so, depending on use. WebSep 28, 2024 · It was supposed to take stain, but either we let it harden too long or it doesn't take stain all that well, and everywhere the filler was used is many times lighter than the stained wood. I like the gunstock color, but my wife thinks it's too dark. It's darker than the sample we looked at.

Don't use them. Use any sort of furniture or automobile wax. Most of those are either beeswax or carnuba wax, or a combination of the two. Your comment about wax is right on target. For some reason, many people have the mistaken notion that wax will waterproof their stocks and don't realize that wax passes moisture with relative ease.
